On June 6th, 2020, a convoy of commercial vehicles drove to the market in Kelik, located some 60 kilometres south-west of Kass locality. On their return they were ambushed by an unknown armed militia.
The convoy refused to stop resulting in the armed militia opening fire on the lead vehicle causing injury to one passenger.
Upon return to Kass the convoy reported the incident to the Police and the injured person received treatment at Kass hospital.
Kelik is a highly fertile agricultural area with many different crops, orchards and livestock. The area holds a significant number of graves following massacres that took place during the Darfur conflict under the former regime.
